A New Year and hitting the ground running.
Posted: January 9th, 2012 | No Comments »Sure it’s raining, it’s cold, it’s miserable and the living room looks somewhat bereft now that the lights and baubles have been relegated to the loft until next Christmas, but I’m am ready and raring to go. Bring on 2012!!
Now this is where I should be telling you all my resolutions for the coming year but the scary thing is, I haven’t made any. Not a single one. Me and New Year’s resolutions just don’t get on. I make them, I break them. I think the only one I stuck to last year was the promise to read more books. Well, I don’t exactly deserve a congratulatory pat on the back for that — I LOVE to read. So this year I am avoiding them. Resolutions that is, not books! I am not gong to start the year by setting myself up for failure.
In my first post of 2011 I wrote;
I’m in awe of those who say they are ‘giving up on giving up’ and agree with others who propound the theory that self improvement should be done no matter what the date on the calendar – why wait until the 1st of January.
Those words must have lodged themselves in my subconscious somewhere because that is exactly the philosophy I taking with me into 2012. I proved this to myself last month by embarking on a partially raw diet. In Scotland. In December. I know! You’re shaking your head in bemusement right now aren’t you? I’m glad I started early though, because now that January is upon us, I’ve hit the ground running and I’m feeling good.
So what am I going to do with this raw energy?
Well, I’m going to channel it into WordPlay. 2011 was a quiet one due to me still being on maternity leave for a large portion of the year but now I’m ready to dedicate much more of my time to my third baby — my business.
What does 2012 have in store?
I am looking forward to contributing more to my regular column with www.theveganwoman.com — every writer should be so lucky as to find a project they feel passionate about. A collaboration with Fiona of Fiona Robertson Graphics is also in the pipeline and as I am sworn to utter secrecy I will just say that it’s something I’m very excited about. There may be an announcement as we travel into Autumn so keep your eyes peeled.
What else?
Well, that’s up to you!
Get in touch if you have a blog you’re struggling to write, some website copy that needs sprucing up or if you have an exciting new business on the launch pad and you need someone to help you with your marketing copy. I’m all yours.
And if you believe what the Mayans tell you, these are our last few months before the world ends, so let’s make them good ones! Happy New Year everyone.
